Giving From The Heart

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.” ~ Helen Keller

This has always been a favorite quote of mine.  I believe it to be true.  Something else I believe is that some of the greatest gifts given/received do not require money … they involve a whole lot of love and a dash of creativity.  Around this, I decided to poll some of my Facebook friends to learn/share the gifts they have received:

“I had a wonderful bath prepared for me as soon as I got home from work with my favorite fragrances, candles and a martini. He knew that was how I relaxed the most. So sweet. <3 <3 <3” ~ Carla McQueen

“Last year when I turned 40, I got a phone call from Ryan’s kindergarten teacher.  She said the class had something to say to me…then 16 kindergartners all sang Happy Birthday over the phone to me!  Ryan had told them all it was a special bithday for me! ~ Jennifer Mason

“My daughter’s Valentines..just that childlike unconditional love is enough to warm your heart and give you a boost!” ~ Heather DeAngelis

“Friendship.  A note from a friend I had not heard from in a long time.” ~ Antonia Gomez

“The sole of a shoe – said “I love you heart and sole”  I know, a little corney, but it was appreciated!” ~ Michelle DeRouen

“A poem from Nick that was written on the back of a hershey candy bar wrapper -He loves you , He gives you valentine wishes, He sends you hugs and kisses”  Toooooo cute – of course I think he meant to give me the candy bar but ate it instead and had to write a poem :)!!!!” ~ Ann Oschwald

“Back in 1998, I left the Bridgman office of NBD Bank and Mel, our 80-year-old mail courier said he had a gift for me.  My assistant, Georgia and I went down the basement.  Mel’s gift was a song.  He sang (with all his heart) Amazing Grace.  Even to type it now brings tears to my eyes!” ~ Sandra
