Harvesting Happiness – One of My Favorite Activities

Thank you for taking the time to open this Love Letter.  It is being sent out just before we end this month filled with all of my Fall favorites: candy corn, caramel apples, cider, crisp cooler temperatures, fallen leaves, gourds, Halloween candy, pumpkins, and of course, everything spooky! My inner-child loves this month. One of my favorite activities at this time of year is to walk.

In October, it is especially enjoyable due to all of our neighbors decorating their yards with tombstones, spiders, skeletons, and a witch here or there. Creative expression at it’s best!

Celebration All Around the World

In addition to all of the focus being on Halloween, it is also harvest time.  For all of those that have prepared the ground, seeded the fields, watered and watched over the soil, and tended to the plants as they have grown, the time has arrived to pick the bounty.

It is a time of celebration all around the world, whether it is Thanksgiving, Sukkot, Harvest Home, or Kwanzaa. Harvest festivals date back to ancient times.  These rituals and festivals involve showing thanks to the Gods for a successful crop growing season.

What have you sown over this year that you can now be thankful for?

This is a wonderful time to consider your personal harvest! There is no better time than now to grab your journal, a glass of cider, sweater, picnic blanket, and rest under an oak tree (watch for the bountiful acorns!) and reflect upon your journey up until this point.  Quietly ask yourself, “What have I sown? Where have I benefitted from the seeds that I have planted?” Take the time to list all that you have gained.  Then, invite others to do the same and share your “bounty” together.

Blessings to you and yours for a bountiful and blessed harvest of your very own.

Live. Love. Play. Prosper.

With love and gratitude,

Happie G
