Squeeze it in … (with love).
If you are reading this, consider it to be a nudge from the Universe that the time has arrived for you to prioritize yourself and to release any judgments that keep you stuck in busy mode. In fact, put your cell on “do not disturb” and enjoy a few minutes absorbing these radical self-care ideas!
Mantra: How would you like to finish out the rest of this year? Choose a one-word mantra and recite it often.
Meditation: Close your eyes for a quick respite, even if it’s only for a few precious moments.
Muchies: If we are what we eat, then lovingly decide to prepare snacks that align with your goals.
More: Play! All work and no play isn’t a success strategy; it’s simply exhausting.
Sleep! Make it a Spiritual Practice. That’s what author Kate Northrup calls it. Doodle! The plus side to this easy-to-insert activity is that it can be relaxing.
Prioritize Your Well-Being: You know that list of things to do? At the very top of it, write these three words: I LOVE YOU. Now think of a person that you really, really, really love. Go ahead and pause for a quick moment to bring them into your awareness.
Have the person pictured in that beautiful mind of yours? Great! Now you’re ready for step two: PUT YOURSELF (not them) AT THE TOP OF THE LIST (and treat yourself, like them).
This is probably THE most radical idea of all. And I am serious here. One of the proven strategies that has been a total game changer for myself is to literally – pencil myself in. To dig out the calendar on Sunday afternoon and gaze at the days before me. Consider the promises you made to yourself. These are the very most important promises of all. If you said exercise is important, pencil the times in for it. Did you decide that quality time with your partner is a priority this year? Decide upon activities, days, dates, and times, then schedule those in. Ready for more adventure through engaging in a story? Find a new book to read and schedule that onto your calendar, too.
Your time is precious. Please don’t wait for what’s leftover as it won’t be there. High achievers always fill the gaps with “productivity.”
Finally, buy the good toilet paper! I deprived myself of this luxury for years. After all, why spend good money on TP? Because … I had no idea how my Life would change by investing just a fraction more into this higher end product. So the next time you are in the market for toilet paper, treat yourself to the “nice” one. It’s amazing what an extra ply or two will do! Need a reminder of just how important the bottom is? Check out a new mother’s want list for her baby. Hint: butt cream, powder, etc.
