Valentine’s Day – Loved and Lovable

Dear Valentine,
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.  It is a day filled with chocolate, roses, cupcakes, conversational hearts, and sentimental cards exchanged between individuals.

Reflecting back, I can remember making cards to take to school.  Wondering, who I would receive a card from? And, if I did not receive a card from the “one,” a sense of disappointment would settle in. Why is that?

Rather than focus on all the wonderful cards I did receive, I allowed myself to dwell upon the one that I did not.  I believe that this is more common than uncommon.  I believe this is because we tend to place our worthiness into the hands of others.  When I didn’t receive the card, my mind made up a story that I was not “__________.”  Perhaps you can fill in the blank for your own life.  Maybe not in a Valentine’s story; however, there could be a similar situation when you felt disappointment and made up a story.  Typically this story is about something being “wrong.”

No matter how old or young we are, it is high time that we realize that WE ARE ENOUGH because we exist.  We are LOVED and we are LOVABLE.

The most important person to love first and foremost is ourselves.  It is just like the oxygen mask on an airplane.  First you must put yours on before you put a child’s on.  Same idea.  You cannot give what you do not have.  Love yourself!

There is time to prepare for tomorrow.  Why not break out some scissors, construction paper, stickers, glue, and glitter.  Then begin by making a Valentine’s card just for you.  Treat yourself to a nourishing meal.  Enjoy a beautiful song.  Call the florist and order flowers to be delivered to you at work! Why not?

You deserve it.

From my heart to yours, I wish you a day filled with love and the knowing that you are absolutely ENOUGH.  You are more than enough.  You are perfect exactly as you are.

YOU ARE LOVED!

Live. Love. Play. Prosper.

With love and gratitude,

Happie G
